HOW IT WORKS...
An overview of the business.
Internet Synergy specialises in providing Internet access for your new and existing customers. We provide all the computer hardware and expertise; you provide your existing premises, desks and chairs, a minimal initial outlay, as there is no franchise, installation or contract costs. The only overheads are the low electricity costs and Internet line rental (as cheap as £10/month).
A common misconception is that as more people have Internet access at home and at work there will be less need for public Internet access in places such as Internet cafes. In fact paradoxically the opposite is true, as people become more reliant on the Internet they find they have to be online more often, this can often mean a quick visit to an Internet cafe while they are away from their PC. Much of our customer base is made up of people who already have Internet access in one form or another. Of course there are many customers who do not have access to their own terminal and this is where the remainder of our customer base is made up.

How much space do I need to provide?
With the advent of flat screen technology and smaller PC boxes than ever before, the answer is very little. We usually install three or four terminals. However we would not proceed if we did not feel the premises were suitable for such an installation. The enterprise is ideally suited to a first floor area, many high street businesses have upstairs areas that are effectively dead space, although any unused space within your premises may be suitable.

Is there a market for this type of business?
Yes. We only approach businesses in areas where there is no or very little existing public Internet access. After all there is very little capital risk on your part, if the site did not work then we would simply remove the machines.

What sort of profit can I expect?
The beauty of this type of enterprise is that overheads are very low as there is little or no replenishment of stock. Depending on the target market you can expect to charge between £3 and £6 per hour per machine. Internet Synergy will take 50% of the hourly charge, leaving you with the remainder. We highly recommend you install a laser printer, which you would own and maintain. Printing is highly profitable and you retain all print income and profit! Don’t forget you will also be bringing new customers to your site that will no doubt be purchasing from your core business.
For a 4 machine site charging £4/hour we would expect a daily income of between £60-£110 per day*.

Will I need extra staff?
No. Not for a site with only a handful of machines. Terminals can be controlled from your existing pay desk area.

What computer knowledge do I need?
Little or none. Your customers are the ones who need to know how to use computers, not you. You simply issue each customer with a ticket and charge him or her accordingly when they have completed their Internet session. We can give you computer software, which will automatically calculate customer charges for you if you wish.

How will customers know I have Internet access?
A simple street board is enough to bring in passing trade. Because you are providing a specialist service, customers will find you. We can provide you with colour flyers, which you can distribute if you wish. In our experience the best form of advertising is word of mouth. Realistically it will probably take a month or two to achieve a reasonable income, but we would not recommend spending large amounts on promotion. Internet Synergy will promote your site by registering the business with relevant search engines and Internet café web sites etc.

What support will Internet Synergy provide?
We will supply, install and maintain the machines and help you with commonly asked questions from your customers. We provide free training for you and any staff you employ. We will service the machines when necessary and will always be on the other end of the phone if there is a problem.
